This program will start from preliminary up to advanced practices (Dzogchen level). For this, Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana will be covered. All levels of practitioner are welcomed, from new-comers to advanced.

Ven. Lama Rinchen in-depth Chöd Ngondro explanation

Ven. Lama Rinchen will offer a very detailed explanation of the Chöd Ngondro, which contains the View of the great Prajñāpāramitā, Mahāmudrā and Dzogchen, and which includes the foundational set of practices that come at the forefront of most Vajrayāna systems.

The teachings will be conducted over 3 weekends from 2pm-6pm on each day total of 7 sessions–

Khenpo Phuntsok Tashi was born in Eastern Bhutan and later studied under various enlightened masters both within and outside the Kingdom. He has earned a Master’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy. Diploma in International Communication from the City University, London. He has been teaching meditation and Buddhism for more than fifteen years in Bhutan and abroad in Europe, the United States and Southeast Asia. A very clear and articulate teacher, many of Khenpo’s students describe his instructions as eloquent and sharp. His sense of humour and warm personality, which are in true Bhutanese style, join with his character to endear him to his students and guest audiences. Also a prolific scholar, Khenpo has written numerous articles and books, as well as presented his research at several national and international academic and cultural forums. He is a champion of Bhutan’s development policy of Gross National Happiness, finding it greatly congruent with Buddhist philosophy. He strongly believes that happiness is a positive mental state which results from cultivation of contentment, non-violence and the never-ending wish to help others at all times.

Meditation and Healing retreat with Lama Rinchen Phuntsok August 11-13 2012 in Huahin

Saturday August 11 – Monday August 13 (long-weekend public holiday)

“Meditation and healing” retreat in Huahin (3 hours south of Bangkok), accommodation will be provided in few cottages and tents.

Retreat fees: Baht500 per person (all meals and place to sleep included)

Retreat starts on Saturday day time and ends on Monday afternoon, it will be helpful if you can manage to get there by yourself but if cannot then we can try to put you on some of other participants’ car if available (you might be required to help pay for some gasoline).

The Venerable Lama Rinchen Phuntsok is a skillful teacher with a light and joyful manner. He is a scholar and meditation master of the Tibetan Buddhist Tradition. Location: Rai rak thamma-chat west of Huahin downtown about 45 minutes by public bus. If you are coming from Huahin town, take public transport (a truck with roof on the back) to Pa-la-oo waterfall and on the way you’ll see Tibetan temple on the left side, about 500 meters past that on the right side is the outer entrance to the retreat center area, come inside until you meet us.

Shamatha and Vipashyana

“Shamatha” or Calm Abiding takes the meditator to the stage where emotional conflict and disturbing trains of thought are eliminated in a state of thoughtful concentration which is calm and peaceful. In this peaceful and calm condition nothing disturbs equanimity, whether coming from outside or inside the mind. It is a state untroubled by attachments and aversions.

 At the same time the insight which is engendered by one pointed absorption allows clear vision of one’s own mind and the nature of things. This is called “Vipashyana” or Insight, which is a clear mind with an incisive insight into the nature of reality. Calmness and clarity allow the mind freedom to be in the here and now.

During that time he received all the important empowerments, transmissions, essential instructions, the oral teaching of Nyingma Kama, and the Profound Rediscovered Teachings of Terma of the great Lotus Born Teacher, Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Vajravana Buddhism. For many years Lama Rinchen was in charge of Zangdog Palri Monastery in India and also Urgyen Dongag, Choling Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal. In 1980, His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche asked him to come to the United States to teach in his New York center where Lama Rinchen was director and resident Lama for four years. Since then he has lectured widely throughout the United States and Europe at centers, colleges, and universities. Lama Rinchen visits his students every year and stays in St. Louis to give teachings and empowerments for several weeks during his U.S. tour. Retreat in Huahin, Thailand

 2 days retreat (Cost: Baht 500, 1 night stay included along with all meals)
-The 2 days session will start on Saturday December 24^th and ends on Sunday December 25^th .

 9 days retreat (Cost: Baht 2000, 8 nights stay included along with all meals)
-The 9 days session will the continuation from the 2 days retreat which starts on December 24^th and will end on January the 1^st 2012.

Vajrasattva practice is very much related to purification of all negative karma which we have committed in this life and countless lives before. So this is a very powerful and useful practice.

In the past, while on the path of learning, Vajrasattva made the following aspiration: (from Rigpawiki)

In future, when I reach complete and perfect buddhahood, may those who have committed the five crimes with immediate retribution, or anyone whose samaya commitments have been impaired, be purified entirely of all their harmful actions and impairments merely by hearing my name, thinking of me, or reciting the hundred syllables, the most majestic of all the secret mantras! Until this is brought about may I remain without awakening!
And:
May I be present before all those with impairments and breakages of samaya commitments and may I purify all their obscurations!
